Feliciano López Díaz-Guerra, Feli López, was born in Toledo in September, 20th 1981.All his family, his parents (Feliciano
and Belén) and his grandparents are from Toledo too.

When he was only two years-old he moved with his family to
Melilla, where he passed the early years of his childhood on a normal way. When he was five his parents gave him his first racket,
(Photo 2 ) and next to his young brother, Víctor, he began learning to play tennis by the hand of his father, Feliciano.
Soon he began to show certain facility in the practice of tennis. He used to practice other sports too, like swimming
(Photo 3 ) and
football, demonstrating very good qualities, mainly at swimming. All of
this caused that his parents observed that Feli had good
qualities, physical and technical,for sports.
Between his 5 and 8 years old he played these sports like extrascholastic
activities, but due to the incompatibility of schedules he had to give up swimming, in spite of being the sport in which he emphasized, and he decided to play tennis, which was the sport he enjoyed more. In Melilla he began to compete in local tournaments, gaining the championship of
Melilla for minors of 12 years-old. In that same year he played his
first Spanish Championship, at Dunaflor Tennis Club, where he proved that he had excellents qualities, in spite of his short age.
The following year he played again the Spanish Championship, in
this case in Murcia, losing in quarterfinals with Juan Carlos Ferrero,
who was the maximum favourite of the tournament.
When he was twelve, he moved to Madrid with his family, and then he began training at Madrid Tennis Federation (Photo 4) next to his young brother, Víctor. There he obtained very good results, winning three International tournaments at the young category (minors than twelve years-old), and he was declared finalist of this Spanish Championship (Photo 5)
The following years he keeps a very good progression that keeps him to win the Spanish Championship for minors than 14 years-old and he was called to join to the Children´s National Federation. At the end of this season he is called by the Spanish Federation to be joined to the team that trains at the High Performance Centre (CAR) in Barcelona (Photo 6). It was a very difficult moment because moving to Barcelona supossed a very complicated decision, because he had to move far from home, and it was a difficult moment for his parents, too.
That september he moved to Barcelona and ever since he is trained by Juan Avendaño. During this years he spends at CAR, he plays his first satellites circuits, in which he wins his first points at the ATP ranking. At the age of 15 he proclaims the winner of the Cadet Spanish Championship, taking part of the new National Team at this category.
Between he was 17 and 18, he broke his two wrists, so his tennis playing brought to a standstill, then he slowed down his integration in the ATP Circuit and his later jump to professionalism

At the age of 19 he has to leave CAR because of his age, and then he enters into a very important moment in his professional career, because at this moment he was located between the 250 and 300 possition in the World ranking, and he needed some help to reach the Top 100 possition. Then he begins training with Francis Roig, and sharing team with Martin Berasategui he begins climbing posittions. One year later, and after Berasategui leaves tennis, he continues his training next to Francis Roig, and then he enters into the World Top 100.
In 2003 he fulfils one of his best career objectives, which is to make his debut with the Davis Cup Team, and he makes it at the Final, played in Melbourne, forming couple with Alex Corretja. In spite of lose face to one of the best copuples of the world, it was something very important to Feli, it was an inflection point in his career.
At the earlies of 2004 he makes his debut at the individual matches of the Davis Cup, at the first round played in Brno (Czech Republic), where he achieved his first victory. This victory has a sweet taste for Feli, because he won for his team and it was his debut as a single player of the Davis Cup.
At the present time Francis Roig and Jordi Vilaró are the persons in charge of training and helping Feli, and he shares team with a lot of good tennis players like Marc López, Galo Blanco, Carlos Cuadrado...
Today, Feliciano is settled into the World Top 30, and he has the ambition of some day reach the Top 10 of the World
